Food For Your Soul

Making bags can be just a hobby for you. But for me, like many other bag makers, it's food for the soul. It's something that makes us feel good. Something we like doing for the sake of it. And sometimes we can't without.

Before I started making bags, I didn't know what I was missing. And that's easy when you don't know about something, you simply don't feel you need it in your life. But once I started getting into it, seriously, I realized that not only I liked doing that, but I also wanted to do that, and needed to do that.
Do you know the feelings when you know you cannot do something you really want to do, when your hands are burning and you can't stop thinking about the moment you touch it once again? Right now I'm in the middle of moving things into the new studio. So I have some things in my house, but other things at the studio. The result of that is I can't make bags. And I can't really do much about it. I really want to. I haven't for such a long time. It's times like this when you just know you have a passion for something. And you miss life with it when without it.

I guess almost everybody has something that is their passion, that doing that certain thing is like doing whatever you WANT to do and not what you NEED to do. Life without it isn't a life, as I see it. And it's so damn important to have that.
But sometimes there comes the point where you wonder whether you're doing this because you have deep passion for it, or just because you have no choice. Because once you've gotten yourself into it, you cannot stop. And people would expect from you to keep the same level. Like, once I got the studio room that people worked hard on getting me one, I absolutely can't back off now. On one hand, that's okay. On the other hand, it's like my future has been determined for me.

But gotta admit, that if a fate has been chosen for you, or even you've chosen it for yourself, it's better be the one you've been pursuing and enjoy of. It's your passion, and what's better than being practicing and make living out of your passion?
In the end, it gives you so much satisfaction, other things don't matter. It's healthy too, in my opinion. Wanting something so badly, having it and enjoying it. Doing what's good for you, and not what you need to do. I hate that in life there are things we must do, or must keep up with. So it's good thing that there is always room for the things that you don't have to do, but enjoy doing. Hobby is one thing. But when you take that hobby seriously, you work hard for it, you want to achieve more in that department, and can't get enough of it.

There are jobs or works in life which you do enjoy doing, but it's starting to be the same. Everyday you do the same thing. Over and over again. You got a routine. And even though you like it, it might make you crazy. Because nothing really changes. Everything looks the same. You get sick of it. However, I don't feel that way about the bags. Because I tend to change things, move things. As in, I make up new designs every time. Because I get bored doing the same bag more than once or twice. I have to move on so I don't get bored. I also learn new things, and keep in mind that I have to progress. Or else I'd be stuck in place. So one of the best things about the passion for bags, is the fact that it moves. It can change if I want it to change, if I make it change. That's why I think it's important to move things within your passion. So you don't get bored. So it will keep being your passion, instead of ruining a beautiful thing in your life.
