The Chic-Homeless Skirt

Originally, I wanted to include more stuff from the skirt presentation 2 weeks ago (as mentioned in the previous post) at my fashion course. But my camera's batteries are spent, so I only took pictures of the skirt that I made.

It was sort of Chic-Homeless looky and feely. I took the pictures at my working place (sewing workshop), at the room where we barely use, so just so you know, it's not the one of the main rooms of the workshop.
The first mannequin I put the skirt on so I could take the pictures, was a bit heavy on the hips. So I put it on another one, a slimmer one, that was a bit too skinny. So that is why it looks a bit big on it. It fit the model I used anyway, so it doesn't matter, right?

I took pictures from all angles:

Tutorial Me

I see tutorials as an important part of this blog. And I also see you, the readers, as a big part of this blog. What am I getting at?

I'll make it short and snappy. If you wrote a bag/bag related tutorial and would like to share with more people, I now give you the chance to do that. Even if it's a tutorial at your blog or other blogs, you now can post it here as well. And I don't mean the link, I'm not doing a resource for tutorials, I collect the ones I made and now the ones you made. It's basically a guest tutorial. You write and take pictures, send it to me and I post it here, so more people could learn.

So if you have written a tutorial for a bag, or a bag related tutorial, I would love to have you as a tutorial guest. The only rule is that it must be your own tutorial.
Another good thing about this thing is, I will write your credits, meaning your name, and add a link so people could go to your blog and you will get more exposure! And more people will enjoy your tutorials!

So if that sounds good to you, email me your tutorial/link/+pics with the details and I will post it here soon:

P.S. I will post the pictures and info about the presentation at my school from last week soon, that's the next post issue.

Nice Looking Pressure

Been very busy lately, it's a week away from the "finals" of this semester of my fashion course – the skirt semester. And there is so much to do till then, they gave us a bunch of stuff that we need to present on next week's presentation. It's not only the skirt we need to present, but also many other stuff, I'll share with you some of them.

First we need to make a collection of 5 skirts sketches. I drew it in hand, then scanned it into the computer plus the fabrics I'd use for them, and add them to the drawing. One drawing takes me about 3 hours(!!!). Yeah, a lot of work. But I think it turned out quite well. Here's are the sketches I made (it's doomed to change before the presentation, and remember, it's about the skirts only, not the shirt or anything else!) Sorry about the quality, looks better in real life, really!

The first one is the one I'm actually making. It's built with many layers of a weird and different looking fabric (that you can't really figure out from the drawing at the moment), and it's meant to be homeless-chic kind of thing.

I'm going to send those to the printer house, a little money-spending, but because it needs to be bigger than a home printer's size, I decided that printery would be the best way to go.

I also wanna add that I didn't go for beauty, ready-to-wear, wear in the street kind of skirts in my sketches. I went for creativity and originality, I was looking for designs that haven't been made because, I want them to look couture, high fashion that you would see at fashion week or something, on the catwalk. I wanted to stand out from the girls of my class. Because as I've seen when looking around at other girls' work, they all look pretty much the same, like daily simple skirts. But I've decided that I needed something blowing away, different from others, I'm making a long chic skirt, with a long train on the side, and unsymmetrical. Very feminine and classic.

For this presentation (which we will be scored by the many things we need to prepare), they will be bringing us someone from the industry, a professional fashion designer or something. Big pressure.

We also needed to pick a girl from class to be our little cute model while wearing the skirt we design. We need to fix accessories for her, make up, etc. So I've decided on a little gimmick with the styling, which is I will be the only one in class that will accessorize her model with a handmade bag made by me, made especially for this presentation. Thought it might rise up my score a little, get them impressed and show them what I can do. This one is already finished, I found a fabric that fits the design perfectly, which was originally made for a bag's lining, actually. But it really fit, and that's what I found in the cabinet. Here:

As you can see, it's very classic and chic, and can be used two ways (i.e. the snaps on the sides can be either closed or open, which gives the bag 2 different designs and looks).

I won't bother you more. I'll post more updates in the next days. I'm glad I got to post something at all, because I'm working so hard for the presentation. Every day a few stuff completed. Good thing I have a planner, huh?
