I want to start filling the blog, so I'm gonna start with the telling about me, the bag maker. Read it or leave it (:


I'm 22, almost 23 years old from the lovely country of Israel. I live in a Kibbutz in the center, which is good, because without it I wouldn't be making bags, or sew at all. Explaining now. I started working at the Kibbutz's sewing workshop with a bunch of old, very nice women, and with none experience at sewing. I don't think I've even seen a sewing machine before. That was almost 2 years ago, maybe less.


Before that I used to have a dream: making bags by myself. I've always liked them, big bags fan here. So I guess that was fate that I found myself in the sewing workshop, and later on began learning the bag sewing, by one of the old women who worked there who didn't even know about my dream. It just happened as a sewing fairytale. She taught me the basics. From there I resumed the learning by myself. I have to admit, school wasn't really for me, because I study best alone, what I want and really need, from life. You cannot teach me, I'll learn it all by myself. Same thing with the bags. After learning the basics, I could figure it all out and do it my way and my style, finding the right way to go for me.

I bought my first sewing machince, fabrics, pins... and began sewing at home. Till today, within 1-1.5 years I made over 60 bags. The first ones weren't that great, but today I'm blossoming. I create at least one bag a week (I wish I could do more), making up things and styles of my own. I buy supply and material that would make the bags look more professional. I learn new things and improve the bags, each bag better than the last. (I will tell you more about my working prosess, tips and things that I learned during my bag making).

It's really important to me to create things I like and things that are my style. There are many fashion trends today that I don't like. And I wouldn't wear something that I don't like, just 'cause it's the fashion. Same with my bags. Also, the designs I make are unique. I don't like stealing ideas, not just because of integrity, but because I like things that are mine, that I came up with by myself. That's why you will almost never see many of my bags (mostly the new ones) - their design - anywhere. Although the problem with me, is I have to come up with a new brilliant idea for a bag every time. I don't like making more than one bag with the same pattern, same design. I have to come up with new ideas every time. It's hard, and sometimes painful. Go figure. I love to invent things, I love being original and the first. And it cannot be a simple bag, it has to have some special elements, special combination of fabrics and materials.

I'm proud of my work, so please please please don't steal ideas! I can help you with what I can, but don't copy mine.

Anyway, in the next post (or posts) I will "share my wisdom", give you tips, letting you know what my work process is, etc.
